Modelling and Tooling Boards from ebalta – variety from master models to high abrasion resistant tools

ebalta modelling and tooling boards and blocks made of polyurethane, epoxy or foam for milling are used in all major industrial sectors: For example, in the automotive industry, in mechanical engineering, in aircraft construction or in architectural model making.

With a variety of plastic modelling and tooling boards in densities from 0.08 to 1.86 g/cm³, ebalta can cover a wide range of requirements from different applications: Whether as an inspection model for design studies, as a master model, as a high abrasion resistant tool or in mould making.

The range includes polyurethane boards and blocks and epoxy boards of the ebaboard product line and foam boards of the ebazell brand both in standard dimensions or in special dimensions available on request.

International distribution partners with their own warehouse worldwide ensure the availability of the modelling and tooling boards.

Under the label ebablock®, individual geometries are provided as custom-made contoured plastic blocks with short delivery times for milling, in contrast to the usual Ureol boards.

The entire range of modelling and tooling boards and blocks from ebalta includes coordinated adhesives, repair and casting compounds.

Whether for design model making, foundry pattern making, mould and tool making or as series parts: Polyurethane boards and polyurethane blocks from ebalta set the standard on the market for ureol plastic materials. They are very well suited for models, tools and moulds with technical requirements and high-quality surfaces. From a design concept, foundry patterns, plastic core boxes, thermoforming to series production: for every application, ebalta convinces with an extensive, unique product portfolio of PU board goods under the label ebaboard and customised plastic blocks under the label ebablock®.

Examples of the polyurethane boards and blocks that have been tested over many years are:

  • the market-leading Ureol board ebaboard PW 920 for highly abrasion-resistant foundry patterns and core boxes,
  • the design board ebaboard 0700 for models with a high quality surface as well as
  • the individual PUR plastic block, made of cast-to-size ebablock® P 185, for master models and series parts.

International distribution partners with their own warehouse worldwide ensure the availability of the PU boards and blocks.

Epoxy Tooling Boards

The epoxy tooling boards from ebalta offer mechanically and chemically consistent properties – such as high heat resistance and a very fine surface structure. This makes them ideal as moulds and tools for composites, both as prepreg tools and for direct tooling or high-frequency welding. As dimensionally stable hard plastic boards, epoxy tooling boards can be precisely tailored to the requirements of the respective applications. Due to their fine surface structure and good dimensional stability, epoxy boards are very often used in racing and automotive construction.

During further processing, ebalta epoxy boards are characterised by their high heat resistance, low expansion coefficient and low dust formation. The epoxy boards can be processed for temperatures up to 140 °C. They are available in standard sizes with a length of up to 1500 mm, a width of up to 500 mm and with board thicknesses of 30 to 200 mm.

Foam Boards

Foam boards from ebalta are offered under the product brand ebazell. They are made of rigid polyurethane foam. The rigid foam boards do not contain any solvents, halogens or plasticisers and do not contain any abrasive fillers, so that no hazardous dusts can arise during milling processes. Boards made of PU rigid foam are particularly suitable for milling styling models, as well as for master models, design models, inspection models and architectural models.

The advantages of ebalta PU foam boards are primarily their very fine surface structure and fine texture. They allow particularly easy mechanical processing, as they do not contain any abrasive fillers. This means that ebalta’s rigid foam boards can be milled with all standard tools without any problems.
